Where did all my blue box outlines go?

All the blue lines to show the text boxes and everything else are hidden and its driving me crazy. I start a new document and they are but I cant get them to come back on the document im working on. I know generally you go to View/Show Frame Edges but its only showing Hide Frame Edges....but they already seem hidden. What did I do?

Is your view set to Preview instead of Normal?

Funny thing, its working now! i didnt do anything either. I even restarted InDesign once, same file did it to me last week. Guess its some glitch!

In preview mode, all those things disappear...

Also remember Ctrl-H, which hides and unhides all element boxes.
