Place Card design

HI there. First time user.

I'm looking for a template or instruction on how to set one up for some place cards. I'd like to be able to put a name on the front and inside a message.

I have set up a database with name and message information - so preferably would like to use mail merge.

I've done some searching but can't find anything that suits. I'd like to put 4 place cards on an A4 sheet and use duplex printing to print (so when cut, they are folded over to provide 4 place cards.

Any help would be be appreciated.

Thanks

Brendon
Place Card design
The layout is a matter of getting the eight text boxes in the correct place and orientation on two successive pages. Not too hard, depending on how your printer duplexes and which page flip you want to use.

Getting the content into those boxes is trickier in that you need the text to go into the boxes out of sync - that is, the name from record 1 would go in page 1, slot 1 but the corresponding message has to go in page 2, slot 1 (or page 2, slot 4). For that I think you're going to have to reorder the database.

Might be easier as two files. Print one side, flip the stack and print the other. Just be sure to either revers the print order on one side or use a tray that receives the output face up for the first run.

The other thing that trips up a lot of new users is that you only put one instance of the card on the page for multiple-records-per-page merges. The spacing is handled in the merge dialog and ID automatically puts as many copies as will fit with those parameters on the page, duplicating EVERYTHING that is there at the start.
