With ID, the guides seem difficult to move, or drag down and create. What am I doing wrong? I also think they are difficult to see with the red frames. When I try to move them, they seem stuck, and I have to click and hold for a second and drag with everything in magnified setting. Is there a setting for making this easier?
Also in PM you had cut and multiple paste, so you could put something on another page, but exactly in the same spot. Is that step and repeat in ID?
Also, since you all are the experts, is there a good generic computer forum respected, with good people who are sincere about helping others? With Windows issues, and the like??? I have some issues, and when I get a tech to my house, they can't figure things out, and I waste, about 100 bucks, and to keep trying to find these things out, I run out of time.
Thanks
Guides...???
I don't know what you're doing as far as creating guides but if you
don't like dragging them out use the the layout%26gt;create guides command.
Red frames? Object frame edges are determined by the color of the layer.
Check the layers panel and doubleclick the layer. There you can change
the color to anything you'd like.
In ID you can use paste in place (I changed the KBSC to ctrl+v because I
use it most of the time) or you can use step and repeat.
It sounds like you could use a good book. I highly recommend Sandee
Cohen's Visual Quick Start Guide.
You might also consider a one month subscription to Lynda.com. That
should be enough time to watch the excellent videos there.
Don't forget to visit InDesignSecrets.com.

Guides...???
Thanks Bob, next time, I'm at Barnes %26amp; Noble, I'll get the book. And I am going to do Lynda very soon. I've done the basic ones through adobe tv, but I need more.
What's KBSC?

Keyboard shortcut. They're editable in ID...edit%26gt;keyboard shortcuts.

Step and repeat would not be appropriate for adding the same content to multiple pages, largely because it won't do that. :) You can't step and repeat beyond the bounds of the pasteboard.
Step and repeat is for making multiple instances of an object in a precisely spaced manner on the same page. A typical use is to create a single business card layout in the upper left corner of a lettersize page, then use S%26amp;R to add 7 or 9 copies (depending on your preference and whether you have bleeds) to print 8- or 10-up. Another use is to draw a rule and use S%26amp;R to duplicated it down the page at some interval.
