Text Wrap not Hyphenating

When adding photos and a caption line into the text of what's to become a book, occasionally hyphenation doesn't occur or the text slips under the photos even with text wrap turned on. Why would this happen? Thank you

Which type of text wrapping are you using? Try changing it to see different ways the type reacts.

If the text isn't wrapping, the most likely culprit is you've set the frame to ignore text wrap. If that isn't the case, the next thing I'd try is replacing the InDesign preferences.
