missing fonts highlighted in pink

Is there any way to change the color to be more visible?

No. Sounds like a good feature request:

I disagree. Right now if someone comes in here and says their text is

highlighted in pink we know exactly what the problem is.

That's great for us, but then you and I aren't color-blind. :)

if I've got a light colored backgound on my master page, it's hard to see that the text is highlighted. I'd just like to be able to change it to a color of my preference, black or red or something. Thanks for the link to the feature request and for the responses!

And in this case, it's the font Symbol, which doesn't show up at all once I've applied a style. So, when I create a PDF proof to supply to my client, nothing is in the spot where the text is missing.

Check Find Font under Type menu. In case of doubt, that'll tell you what fonts are missing and where -- you can even replace it directly with another font, if needed.

Apparently, you are not using CS4. Its live preflight options includes checks for 'Missing Fonts', and

i finally

'Missing Glyphs' as well!

OTOH,

%26gt;in this case, it's the font Symbol, which doesn't show up at all once I've applied a style

should not happen.

%26gt;should not happen.

If the style changes the font, not only will it not show as missing in Find Font, but if there is no glyph corresponding to the location in the new font there would be a hole in the text in the PDF.
