Locations with GREP

Hi,

Is it possible to find Em dash in the beginning of line with GREP search?

^~_ should find em dash at the beginning of a *paragraph*. I don't think

you can find something at the beginning of a line, unless that line also

begins a paragraph.

Thank You,

so I have to find a different solution to my problem...

Claudius

If you explain your problem, maybe someone could help...

For instance, if you're looking for em dashes that begin lines but not

paragraphs, they're probably either following spaces or following forced

line breaks. Either one of these can be searched.

Just had to avoid dashes in the beginning of lines--on 700 pages of novel. Solved the problem by replacing space+dash with non-breaking space+dashes. That doesn't let the line to begin with dash. Just a little wish from my editor. There is always a way round.

Claudius

That's what I do when the publisher wants spaces around parenthetical em

dashes. More often, publishers want no spaces around them.

Well.. it depends of the language we are working in. It's not the same ol' english everywhere. :)
