Images in text column to move?

Hi,

I placed an image over a column of text and used the text wrap tool. Now, is there a way for the image to move and shift down and keep in place with the copy as I add more text either before or after this article? I'm imagining, some sort of linking tool?

This would avoid having to continuously move images so that they keep in place (in relation to the copy) as more articles are added.

Thanks!

Christine, after placing the graphic on the page, cut it to clipboard memory. Then, switch to a Type tool and click it into the text or table; then paste. The graphic will reappear captured inline with the flow of the text. Explore Object %26gt; Anchored Object %26gt; Options and be prepared to do a lot of reading on this subject in the help system that comes with InDesign.

Do you by any chance know if this was ever an option in Quark versions of the past? - Just wondering.

Quark... hmmm... reaching way back... I can't remember the 80s very well!

C'mon, Mike. ID wasn't released until well into the 90s. :)

Yes, Quark was able to anchor frames going back to at least version 3,

probably further. And it worked the same way: cut the frame, paste into

text. Quark had fewer anchored frame options, in fact, none that I

remember. Objects pasted inline, so you could baseline shift them, but

that was about it. I pretty much stopped using Quark after version 4, so

maybe its anchored frame options have improved in recent versions.

Mid 1999, if memory serves me! Almost a new millennium! :-)

Yup. I happen to have an original release InDesign disk out on my desk (don't ask) and the date on the jacket is 6/99. I didn't start using ID for production until around 2001, though, when version 2 came out. :)
